This workshop will explain why businesses or professionals should blog.  Why blogging matters and how companies are using blogs to spark conversation, maximize online exposure, interests and increase sales revenue.  Why individuals became successful through blogging?  That’s what we need to find out when attending the workshop.

This workshop is also designed to prove everything you need to know to build a successful blog from selecting your blog platform to planning your blog strategy.

Who should attend?

A Russian hacker who says he is living in New Zealand attempted to sell the login details of millions of Facebook users – an unprecedented attack on the world’s biggest social networking site.

Detectives from the National Cyber Crime Centre are investigating whether the hacker Kirllos is using New Zealand as a base to commit internet fraud.

Kirllos is offering the user names and passwords of 1.5 million Facebook users for between $35 and $62.70 per 1000 accounts sold on an underground hacker forum.

Cebu Blog Camp is an event that focuses on honing the skills of bloggers offline. This event will gather a large number of bloggers all over Cebu to discuss the latest developments on the Web, Search engines, and making money online.

Cebu Blog Camp also aims to help those just beginning in their blog journey by giving them the  basics of blogging. Our Blog Camp will comprise of prominent speakers of the different fields of blogging.

What is 10MM?

The Ten Million Movement (10MM) is an advocacy campaign to get Filipinos who care for the environment to commit to take action.  Instead of merely asking others to do something, the 10MM is asking “Ano ang taya mo para kay Inang Kalikasan?“.   This campaign encourages individuals, groups, schools, offices, companies, government agencies and local government units to identify and commit to implement any environmental act/s and to register this with the 10M Movement.

Like 10MM, we encourage YOU, yes you! If you are reading this, to commit to take action to our environment.  We ask you to sign up and leave your mark!

The 10 Million Movement (10MM) seeks to enlist 10 million Commitments from Filipinos to take positive action to help address the environmental crisis.

Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world.

Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helu took the No. 1 spot on Forbes’ billionaire list this year.

Slim’s fortune has swelled to an estimated $53.5 billion, up $18.5 billion in 12 months. Shares of America Movil, of which Slim owns a $23 billion stake, were up 35% in a year.

Gates, now worth $53 billion, is ranked second in the world. He is up $13 billion from a year ago as shares of Microsoft rose 50% in 12 months. Gates’ holdings in his personal investment vehicle Cascade ( CAE – news – people ) also soared with the rest of the markets.

To Let a hundred Cebu Blogs bloom.

Well, I guess this is the first Blogging Contest in Cebu that have been organized!  As you would know Bloggers in Cebu are already on the heat and starting to be active.  To let you bloom and at the same time earn BIG time! try joining on this contest “Cebu Blog Contest”.

How to join!

1. The blogger has to create a new blog about Cebu. Existing blogs with already entries or traffic are not allowed. The blog may be self-hosted, or it maybe in any of the publicly available free sites like Blogger.com, MSN LiveSpaces.com, or WordPress.com
2. It should be a new blog which will have a PageRank of 0 in Google, and 0 authority as according to Blog Authority, Technorati.
3. The blogger should register at the official website: www.ccebu.net/mandaue
4. Upon approval, he/she should do the following (this will also be provided) :
   • Insert a code that will enable a statcounter, which will count the number of unique visitors and total them.
   • Insert a code that will enable the blog to carry the blogroll of all the other accepted contestants. That means all official blogs will carry a link to all other Cebu Blog contestants.
   • The blogs may also be asked to carry the logos of the sponsors of the Mandaue Business Month.
   • Other than the above, the Cebu blogs are free to add whatever widgets, advertisements, or add-ons that they feel will add to the value of the blog or to their own income. However, please do note that a blog with overwhelming clutter may earn less points in the theme and overall aesthetics category.
5. The blog contest will start on July 16, and will end on August 3, 2008.
6. The registered bloggers will be invited to all the functions and events of the Mandaue Business Month where the press is also invited.
7. The bloggers will write about the events of the Mandaue Business Month, as well as probable first hand accounts of any of the towns and cities of Cebu. This wilL include for instance the schedules, and plans of MBM, like the press con, contest rules etc.The blog may link to other blogs and quote, but 70% of the overall content should be original.
8. Each blog may have one or multiple writers. A school or association or a group may collectively also write one blog as a combined entry effort.

PRIZES!

1. First Prize – 8,000 pesos cash or gift cheque
2. Second Prize – 5,000 pesos cash or gift cheque
3. Third Prize – 2,000 pesos cash or gift cheque

CRITERIA!

• Technorati Ranking at the end of the contest – 15%
• Google PageRank at the end of the contest – 15%
• Number of unique visitors generated during the period as reported by the StatCounter – 20%
• Blog Design and Aesthetics – 30%
