For the last 5 years, Isuzu Mandaue's Treasure Quest has evolved into more than just a marketing activity to promote brand awareness. It has become our most important channel to promote our thrust on corporate social responsibility primarily on advocacies closest to our hearts – Clean Air and responsible driving. These are concerns that we take seriously. But we realize that people do not have the time and the patience to sit down and listen to these concerns in a formal setting. Hence, we chose to incorporate these in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie while subtly instilling these advocacies.

We hope you understand why prior to the race, we have short talks on defensive driving techniques by CITOM and fuel efficient driving by Prof. Alburo of ECAP USAid. While some of you may have heard them in the past, we have to reinforce this every year to remind the participants. Through this activity we have reached about 1,000 people – participants, volunteers, organizers and sponsors of the event. We don’t know if there was retention but at least we tried our best to educate our market. This may be a tedious exercise but we hope not a futile one.

Aside from the talks, we have the Fuel Efficiency Challenge (open only to Isuzu vehicles ) – an added incentive ( participants in this challenge get FREE FUEL and a test to apply the fuel-efficient driving techniques introduced to them prior to the race. Isuzu has been known world-wide to conduct successful fuel economy runs. We will soon be conducting an economy run in Cebu on October 11. It will commence in Isuzu Mandaue, travel about 100km within the island and end up in a beach resort in Mactan. Cash prizes will be given away. So please watch out for the announcement or call Isuzu Mandaue at 3463090.

This year, we added another dimension of the Treasure Quest contest by introducing the Clean Air Challenge - OPEN TO ALL VEHICLES who joined the TQ5. Unfortunately, the participants who joined this challenge didn’t take this seriously. They came unprepared so out of the 16 vehicles, only 3 ( all gasoline ) passed the emission test conducted by CITOM and ECAP’s USAid. While there were no winners for the diesel category, Isuzu Mandaue insisted that we award the winner for the gasoline because clean emission, anyway, is a direct result of good engine maintenance. Having said that, we’ve spoken to some participants and they said that next year, they will come prepared for it.

We all look forward to Treasure Quest 6 and we hope to reach and influence more people in our awareness campaign.
